The KA IWÉ (translation: Read A Book), created by RIA Design Studio, was born from a desire to recontextualise traditional African stools for 21st-century contemporary households. Traditionally African stools symbolised authority, ancestry, and cultural identity, serving ritual and practical purposes.

Handled with iconic leather stitching and rich walnut timber, each piece is handcrafted in Lagos over a 10–12 week period.Inspired by symbolic African stool heritage, representing identity, memory & status KA IWÉ reinterprets it for thoughtful living. Every curve, stitch, and joint is a deliberate homage to form and function.
