RIA II is a limited-edition lounge chair developed between Lagos and New York.

The chair began with an earlier steel prototype made in Lagos, defined by a woven seat and backrest. Following the studio’s move to New York, the structure was reconsidered in brushed aluminum, woven black leather and darkened wood.

RIA II considers migration as a process of adaptation: an object altered by its surroundings while maintaining a relationship to where it began.

First iteration, Lagos.

RIA II traces the studio’s first chair, developed in Lagos as a steel frame with a woven seat and locally sourced Nigerian wood armrests. Reworked in New York, the structure was retained while the material language shifted to brushed aluminum, black leather, and Shou Sugi Ban finished wood. The two iterations remain connected through proportion and construction, marking different moments in the studio’s development.
