Objects Rooted in Culture. Informed by Architecture.

RIA Design Studio is a contemporary African design practice exploring the relationship between identity, material culture, and the built environment.

Through furniture and collectible design, the studio investigates how objects can carry memory, reflect cultural narratives, and offer new perspectives on contemporary African life. Designed between Lagos and New York, each piece exists at the intersection of architecture, craft, and cultural inquiry, contributing to the evolving discourse on contemporary African design.

Ria II lounge Chair

An Object Shaped by Migration

RIA II began as a chair first made in Lagos and reimagined after moving to New York. The piece carries the logic of transition — adapting form, material, and memory into a new environment. Woven leather, brushed aluminium, and charred wood come together as a study in movement, resilience, and reinvention.
